Once upon a school...

That's right. It's another talk from my favourite website TED. In this video Dave Eggers talks about 826 Valencia an inspiring after school club he created where children learn creative writing from local writers. I know this is not necessarily a revolutionary concept but nonetheless I really enjoyed his inspirational presentation.

Come and see us at Game Based Learning 2010

The Nintendo sponsored Game Based Learning (GBL) event in London has quickly established itself as the essential conference for anyone interested in how technology and gaming can have learning and educational applications. This year we're going to be there previewing the first two chapters of The Land of Me which are Shape, Size & Colour and The World Outside. For my sins I'll also be speaking at the conference doing a short session on technology and the power of stories in early learning. We have a small area in the main hall as well as access to the developers lounge so if you fancy a coffee and a chat please drop by.

Out of a Forest

This may well be the prettiest thing you see all day. A student project by Tobias Gundorff Boesen from The Animation Workshop. It was shot in the forests surrounding Viborg, Denmark. Great video, great song.

If elephants could fly...

This is a beautiful and charming little animation from The Curiosity Group, who amongst other things make fantastic paper-craft activities. If you like to get 'crafty' with your little ones from time to time you could do a lot worse than to watch the video and then have a go making the elephant yourself.
