Learn with Me: Discovering new environments

The Land of Me has the power to transport children to places they have never been before. In each chapter you can travel to a whole new world and experience so many different environments. The children from Tylers Green School particularly enjoyed learning about the new environments they discovered in Chapter 2 - The World Outside.

After playing with Mr. Rigby and our intrepid adventurers, the children created their own interpretations of the arctic, deserts and lakes. All they needed was The Land of Me map and some photographs of a range of environments. Using chalks, crayons and some lovely big pieces of paper the children created some magnificent drawings. When their pictures were complete the children had some great discussions about what it would be like there and what they would find if they were to visit the worlds they had created.

This exercise was a really fantastic way to not only trigger the children's artistic creativity but also their imaginative creativity. Listening to them conjure up these magical new lands was really quite wonderful. If you want to find more information about different environments around the world visit Globio. You will find some fascinating information as well as lots of great photos of some weird and wonderful places to explore.

Why not create a new environment with your little ones and get them chattering away about it. If you do we would love to see it. Why not capture it in a photo and you can post it on our Facebook page or on our community page You&Me.
